The Boy is a psychological horror thriller directed by William Brent Bell, starring Lauren Cohan in the lead role. The film tells the story of Greta, a young American woman who takes a job as a nanny in a remote English countryside mansion. She expects to care for a real child, but is shocked to discover that the “boy” she has been hired to look after is actually a life-sized porcelain doll named Brahms.
The elderly couple who own the house treat the doll as their real son and give Greta a strict list of rules to follow—such as feeding him, dressing him, reading to him, and never leaving him alone. Believing the doll is harmless and the couple is simply coping with grief, Greta initially ignores the rules.
However, strange and unsettling events begin to occur in the house. Objects move on their own, the doll seems to change positions, and Greta starts to feel as though she is being watched. The peaceful mansion slowly turns into a place of fear and mystery.
As Greta uncovers the dark past of the family and the real Brahms, she learns that the doll is connected to a chilling secret. What begins as a simple job soon becomes a terrifying psychological game that forces her to fight for her survival.
