The story centers around Andrea Framm, who is preparing to leave home for college. With her brother Josh gone and change around the corner, she finds comfort in Buddy, whose ever-cheerful presence helps her through one of life’s key transitions. Meanwhile, a pair of bumbling jewel thieves add a touch of light, goofy adventure. When they lose a priceless diamond, Buddy and his puppy Rosebud (making one of the earliest appearances that would lead into the Air Buddies spinoff series) get involved in the rescue.
